JOURNEYS END ANIMAL SANCTUARY INC

Journey's End Animal Sanctuary provides lifetime care and shelter for dogs, cats, horses, pigs, sheep, and birds that have been abused, neglected or have special needs. Rather than emphasizing adoption, Journey's End provides a homelike setting where animals can enjoy the remainder of their lives in a comfortable, loving atmosphere.

EDPOWERMENT INC

EdPowerment carries out its mission through three grassroots, closely administered and personalized projects: (1) Support for the Kilimahewa Educational Centre that serves local teens and young adults excluded from public & private education; (2) Tomorrow’s Scholar-Leader Sponsorship Program which selects qualified teenagers, who have no resources, to pursue secondary through university or vocational studies in order to secure a career; and (3) ACT (Autism Connects Tanzania), which advocates for the autistic and intellectually disabled ignored by local society, while offering educational workshops and guidance to teachers, social workers, government officials and others who serve this population. In addition, as funding allows, we target assistance to the community at large. In 2014 EdPowerment funded new toilets to allow the Mary Bennett-Sambarai government primary school to keeps its doors open to 700 students. At the same time, we purchased large quantities of texts for a boarding school, attended by some of our sponsored students, to raise the level of learning for all students.

The Center for Judicial Excellence was born in a San Rafael living room and was essentially incubated in a local PR firm. This short-term 2006 public relations project quickly grew into a standalone 501(c)3 organization that continues to develop and disseminate powerful content about the family court crisis and related problems stemming from a complete lack of effective oversight of the judicial branch of government.

Habitat for Humanity Middle Keys

Habitat for Humanity of the Middle Keys is a non-profit Christian housing ministry founded on the belief that every man, woman and child deserves a safe, decent and affordable home to call their own. Habitat Middle Keys began in 1991 and is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God's love into action by building homes, communities and hope. We are a volunteer based locally run affiliate dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide. All are welcome and Habitat for Humanity of the Middle Keys has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views, or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. As a child growing up in small Bible churches, one of the highlights of the year was the annual Missions Conference that was held, usually sometime in October. I enjoyed going and hearing of the work God was doing in other countries. After all, ours was a “Christian country” and we needed to send people overseas to share the Gospel of Christ. The songs we sang -- Send the Light, We’ve a Story to Tell, So Send I You, Go Ye into All the World and others, were brought out each year to sing several times along with a theme song and then put away again until the following year or until we had a missionary speaker come. I loved these songs, but it seemed we only sang them when “missionaries” were present.
